Why do people nowadays look so much worse than our ancestors or even just people who lived 100 years ago?
Everyone looks so soft and chubby. Recessed jaws, Crooked teeth. Bad hair, poor skin. No sexual dimorphism. Most people are fat and unhealthy. When you walk down the street of a city most people honestly just look like shit. Sub5’s. And that’s not to be rude but it’s just true.
But why is that? Because obviously nobody wants to be a sub5. We all wanna look as good as possible. The better you look, the better your life will be. You’ll make more money, attract more partners, get treated better by strangers, have more friends, etc.
This is the halo effect. It states that people automatically (and unconsciously) link good physical appearance with positive internal traits, assuming attractive people are smarter, more trustworthy, friendlier, etc.
It can be a hard pill to swallow but it just goes to show how important it is to max out your looks if you want to have the best life possible.
And the unfortunate truth is that there are lots of things pulling you in wrong direction without you even knowing it. Things that you do on a daily basis. Destroying your potential.
Now you might be saying that this is just cope and that there’s nothing you can do since your looks are just related to genetics. But that’s not entirely true.
Because this is where epigenetics comes in. Epigenetics relates to how your environment and lifestyle impacts the expression of your genes, which basically means that two people with the exact same genes can end up completely different because they didn’t express the same genes.
You can basically influence your body to turn on good genes that make you healthier, more attractive, etc. and turn off bad genes that do the opposite.
So no, it’s not all genetics in the sense that there is nothing you can do about it. You absolutely can and the earlier you start the better.
So stop doing these daily habits if you want to look as good as possible.
I. Eating soft foods
Eating soft food is making you uglier. That’s just the truth.
We know that putting stress on your bones and muscles makes them stronger and makes them grow. People don’t think you’re crazy if you tell them that going to the gym makes your muscles and bones bigger and stronger.
“Everybody knows that” they’ll say.
But if you tell people that you can develop the bones and muscles in your face to get a more defined and more attractive face they’ll say it’s fake and that it’s just “genetics”.
The bones and muscles in your face aren’t any different than the ones in the rest of your body. They respond the same way to stress. They grow bigger and stronger to adapt.
This becomes clear when you look at hunter gatherer skulls vs modern, post agricultural revolution skulls.
We have visible smaller bones and muscles nowadays. Mostly because of our shit diet and lifestyle.
We don’t run around all day anymore stressing our body. We don’t chew hard foods anymore like meat or fibrous fruits and vegetables. Instead, we eat soft foods like fast food burgers which you can basically crush with just your tongue and then we finish it off with a milkshake or something like that.
Over generations this has lead to bones and muscles in our face atrophying. Becoming smaller and weaker.
The number one rule of nature is: If you don’t use it, you lose it. Bones and muscles are energy demanding. From an evolutionary standpoint it’s a bad idea to “waste” energy keeping bones and muscles strong if you have no use for them.
But the good news is that you can fix it. At least somewhat. You probably won’t end up looking like a hunter gatherer chad. Sorry. Especially not if you’re already well past puberty.
But you can definitely improve it. The younger you start, the better the results.
It really only takes two things:
Chewing hard foods
Like I said, stop eating soft foods ALL DAY EVERY DAY like every other sub 5 on this planet. It’s making you ugly. Start consuming more hard to chew foods. Tough steaks, hard fruits and vegetables like apples and carrots. Raw foods in general tend to be better since they’re naturally tougher most of the time.
Really start making it a priority in your diet to actually eat hard-to-chew meals like your chad hunter gatherer ancestors did.
Another thing you can implement is mastic gum. It’s a tree resin that’s traditionally been used as one of the first natural chewing gums. If you’ve ever tried it you know how much harder it is compared to regular chewing gum. It’s a serious workout for your jaw muscles and over time it will absolutely improve your jawline muscles.
On top of that it has oral and gut microbiome benefits and is free of microplastics and other bullshit like normal chewing gum. It’s really just a win win.
You can get mastic gum a lot of different places but the official website is mastic.gr I believe.
Trust me, you’ll be looking like giga chad in no time if you start chewing mastic gum regularly along with eating harder foods.
Getting enough nutrients
Another equally important thing for proper facial development is getting enough nutrients. I could probably have made this into an entire separate point because it’s so important but for now I’ll just put it here.
We know that certain nutrients like calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D and vitamin K2 are correlated with bone development and growing taller.
Children who are deficient in vitamin K2 end up shorter than children who aren’t deficient for example:
Vitamin K2 is found mostly in animal products btw. Aged cheeses, milk, butter, organ meats and so on. But you can also get it from natto, sauerkraut, kimchi and so on.
But this is why it’s so important that you eat a nutrient rich diet, especially when you’re going through development but also as an adult. Not only for your looks but also just for your overall health.
Eat animal foods like red meat, oysters, shrimp, wild caught salmon, sardines, whole milk, cheese, yogurt, kefir and plant foods like raw carrots, potatoes and lots of fruit and honey.
If you use that as your diet foundation you really can’t go wrong.
II. Self care products
You’d probably think that having a good self care routine will improve your looks, not make them worse. But it’s not as simple as that.
A lot of the products people use on a daily basis contain a large amount of chemicals, some natural, some synthetic. The endocrine Society lists more than 85,000 synthetic chemicals that are in widespread use in self care products. More than 1,000 of these are suspected endocrine disruptors, meaning they can disrupt or alter your hormones or the expression of hormone receptors targeting different cells.
For example, bisphenol A (BPA) acts as an agonist when binding to estrogen receptors and as an antagonist when binding to androgen receptors. This basically means it “turns on” the estrogen receptor and “turns off” the androgen receptor.
No bueno.
This can alter and disrupt certain estrogenic, androgenic and thyroid pathways leading to a bunch of different problems including reproductive and metabolic function.
And in reality there are probably way more than 1,000 chemicals that are endocrine disruptors since we haven’t really tested all these 85,000 chemicals properly.
This is why I always laugh when I see these male perfume ads. They’re portraying their products as this super masculine thing when in reality it’s most likely a net negative for your health and masculinity.
The same goes for other self care products you use on a daily basis. Skincare products, deodorants, shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, etc.
The leave-on products are the worst. Deodorants, moisturizers, etc. This is because it allows the ingredients to get absorbed through the skin.
I don’t mean to fearmonger but the truth is that we just don’t really know the long term effects of chronic, low dose exposure to all these chemicals.
I’d rather be safe than sorry when it comes to this which is why I use as few products as possible and make sure they contain as little synthetic and harmful ingredients as possible.
Switch to a natural shampoo + conditioner or just use nothing at all. For skincare, get a good natural cleanser, a clean daily SPF moisturizer and maybe a salicylic acid or retinoid product for nighttime use. This is honestly all you need for skincare.
Like I’ve mentioned in a lot of my other posts, good skin comes from within. Your diet, lifestyle and environment.
For good, natural and effective self care products check out based.com. I’m not affiliated with them at all, they genuinely just make some great products.
But back to how these products actually make you less attractive because you might be sitting there thinking:
“Okay, so what if I get some chemicals in my body, what the fuck is that gonna do?”
Sexual dimorphism my friend.
Sexual dimorphism is the differences between male and female. The things that separate us physically. And it’s what we’re hardwired to find attractive.
For example, males are taller than females on average. They weight more. They develop a beard. Their neck is thicker on average. They have a more defined brow ridge compared to females. And in general, males faces are more angular and defined than females.
And it’s no coincidence that females are more attracted to angular faces, prominent brow ridges, taller guys, etc. All male dimorphic features.
Males are generally attracted to rounder faces, big eyes, and someone shorter than themselves.
This could be an entire guide on sexual dimorphism because I really think it’s interesting but that’s not what you’re here for.
So in general, anything you can do to develop your male features (or female features if you’re a girl) will be beneficial for your looks. And sexual dimorphism is caused by genetics which then depend on hormones to actually activate them.
That’s primarily testosterone if you’re a guy and estrogen and progesterone if you’re a girl.
So when you day in, day out expose yourself to chemicals that mess with these hormone pathways what do you think that does to your looks long term? Especially when you’re going through puberty and early development?
It’s not something I wanna mess around with.
“THEY’RE TURNING THE FROGS GAY”
I know you’ve heard this before and honestly it’s not as insane as it sounds. There are male frogs that have been turned into fully functioning females because of exposure to certain endocrine disrupting chemicals.

So if you want to look your best, stop exposing yourself to countless chemicals all the time that we don’t know for certain are safe.
Especially when there are plenty of verified safe products out there that you can use instead. Natural olive oil soap bars, clean ingredient shampoos and conditioners, simple skincare products, aluminium and fragrance free deodorants, natural colognes and so on.
Things you want to especially look for:
Paraben free
Phthalate free
Artificial fragrance free
Aluminium free
SLS and SLES free
III. Bad skin
Take any good looking person, give them acne and they’ll instantly become unattractive. Or wrinkles. Or dull looking skin. Or under eye bags. Anything really.
Having clear, healthy and vibrant skin is one of the biggest contributors to your looks, and not having it will make your looks suffer instantly.
I know this because I used to struggle with pretty bad acne myself.
It also makes your confidence suffer which is a whole other point besides the topic.
But the good thing is that you can fix your acne naturally and permanently. It’s actually really simple.
But most people don’t know it because they’ve been brainwashed into thinking that acne is genetics, hormones or some other thing out of their control.
But that’s just not true.
Acne is primarily a lifestyle disease influenced by what you eat, how you live your life and generally how healthy you are.
We know this because there are multiple traditional societies around the world that are completely acne free, even among teenagers and adolescents, which are normally most prone to acne.
How do they do this you ask? It’s simple. They live a healthy, natural life.
Eat good foods, move their body, get sunlight, ground, have fun, sleep well, don’t stress, etc.
So you’re literally making yourself a sub5 on purpose when you engage in activities that move you in the opposite direction of health.
Eating junk food, being a couch potato, never getting sunlight, drinking alcohol every weekend, neglecting your sleep, etc.
Stop this and your acne will improve.
I’ve made a full course on fixing your acne permanently because I know how horrible it is to struggle with. I don’t wish that on anyone but unfortunately the mainstream information out there is just so trash.
So if you want to skip the years of trial and error and just get straight to business check out my Acne Academy. Full A-Z guide + 1-1 help from me.
Another thing that is super important for skin health is wearing an SPF on your face daily.
Look, I used to be big into the whole natural, fuck sunscreen type of lifestyle. I thought sunscreen was horrible for you. But I’ve changed my view on that. Kinda.
I still think sunlight is incredibly important for health but I think its hard to just ignore the negative effects of short wavelength light on photoaging. Wrinkles, saggy skin and that kind of thing.
This is why I’ve started wearing sunscreen on my face most days. I think it’s the perfect balance to get the maximum benefits of sunlight with the least amount of drawbacks.
So I basically just wear sunscreen on the face every day even when it’s overcast or when I’m inside as I still want to block the short wavelength light that penetrates the cloud and windows.
The two best ones I have found are the SPF 50 sunscreens from haruharu wonder and hyeja. They both use modern, clean and safe UV filters + other beneficial ingredients.
I honestly think these are better than mineral sunscreens as they don’t leave a white tint, block more blue light and don’t block infrared light at all which some mineral sunscreens do.
But that’s basically it.
3 of the highest ROI habits you can change in your life to not be a sub5.
Eat hard to chew, nutrient rich foods. Get rid of bullshit endocrine disrupting self care products like fragrances and deodorants. Fix your skin.
I hope you enjoyed it and learned a thing or two.
Thanks for reading and godspeed.
